This is the type of story that keeps lawyer jokes alive and well. In a nutshell, one local business -- Stop and Shop supermarkets -- is challenging the liquor license renewal of a neighboring business, the Prospect Tavern. To what end? This is more complicated than you think. The Stop & Shop building and Prospect Tavern building are part of a commercial condominium that has its own set of restrictive covenants and agreements. This dispute isn't a new thing -- it's been going on for quite some time in different legal venues, and I believe it was originally based on Stop & Shop's claim that the process by which the Prospect Tavern patio was built violated the condominium deed or something like that.
