The difference between Democrats and Republicans
John McCain has left the senatorial sandbox and taken his toys with him; he has vowed not to work on anything for the rest of his term. Sarah Palin resigned as Alaska's governor and is busy either organizing her own reality TV show or trying to foment further folderol. Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama, staunch and lively opponents in a battle royal of a Presidential primary, have reconciled their differences and worked long and hard for the ideals and objectives of their party.
Republicans are a party of self interests; Democrats are a party of the people. And so it goes.
This is a one-page article... there's nothing of interest here... move along.

It's time to get really scared... really!

A popular tenet of many organized religions is Creation; an omnipotent, omniscient, omni-everything Deity created the Earth. Human beings were the pice de rsistance of this undertaking. We were put in charge of the planet -- given dominion is the usual phrase -- and told to 'go forth and multiply.'
We've done a really good job with the multiplication, but we've fallen down on general housekeeping. We've fouled the air, polluted the water, poisoned the soil, denuded the forests, killed off thousands of animal species and generally pushed Mother Earth to a premature demise -- at least for us. The planet itself will probably survive; we just won't be alive to enjoy what's left of it.
Wait a minute! Is that the cavalry galloping over that hilltop? Are we going to be saved in the 11th hour? Is BIG SCIENCE going to rescue us from cataclysmic climate change? Yeah, right... wanna buy a bridge?
